How the Access Worker Services operates:
Essentially an access worker service is the provision of a safe environment and setting for children and families to re-establish or maintain the relationship with a non-custodial parent. First individual needs are identified. The identified need then determines the level of service required (i.e. number of hours required etc) to enable us to provide an adequate service.

Supervised access is designed to maintain the contact between a child and parent during the Court process and the time when a parent is working on identified issues. A Court may also order supervised access when contact is being reestablished after a prolonged absence; allowing both child and parent/grandparent/relative to become reacquainted in an environment that is comfortable for the child.

Role of Access Supervisor

The role of the access worker is as follows:

Maintains a non-judgmental and supportive attitude. Assistswith coordination of Family Access Services, parenting skills and facilitatesparent/child interactions when required. Present at all times to observe anddocument interactions between parent and child. Relates to all cultural, ethnicand socio-economic groups and lifestyles. Encourages appropriate conduct andwhen possible, redirects inappropriate conduct. The Visit Supervisor willintervene or terminate the visits if it's in the best interest of thechildren.
